How do I work with you? How do I submit an order?

To get started, please fill out the Quote Request form on the "Order" page. Be as detailed as possible! I love to come up with designs that are tailored to you/your theme/your venue. Color preferences are extremely helpful. I'll contact you within a few days with a quote or follow up questions to help me put together a quote. I'll also provide next steps on payment and delivery. For cakes: I will provide a preliminary sketch for you to approve or give feedback on. You can also opt to give me creative freedom and I'll come up with something to surprise you with!
Where are you located?

North Star Bakery is currently a home-based operation in the Saint Paul area. We are registered as a MN Cottage food producer (#20231837) and take great care to maintain a sanitary environment. These products are homemade and not subject to state inspection.
How far in advance do I need to order?

The sooner the better to ensure we have the availability, but at least 2 weeks in advance is appreciated. Orders requested within 1 week of the date may incur additional fees.
Do you deliver? Is there a delivery fee?

Yes, we deliver to the greater Twin Cities area! Delivery fees vary based on distance, typically $5-20. For a reduced fee, we can meet clients part-way at a coffee shop or other business.
What is your cancellation policy?

Orders cancelled more than a week out will get most or all of the deposit/payment back (depending on how much time and prep has gone into the project up to that point). Orders cancelled within a week of the event will forfeit the deposit/payment.
Can I order vegan or gluten-free cakes?

I am unable to offer vegan cakes at this time, as I've found vegan butter compromises the smooth texture and quality of decoration that I hold myself to. I am, however, able to offer some gluten-free cakes, but they are made in the same kitchen and with the same tools as non-GF cakes. I am unable to guarantee there won't be cross-contamination with gluten in this environment, though I do my absolute best to prevent this.
How do I know what size cake to order?

Approximate servings are as follows: 6" 3-layered cake: Serves up to 8 6" 4-layered cake: Serves up to 12 8" 3-layered cake: Serves up to 24 Feel free to include a note in the Quote Request Form with the number of guests, and I can offer a recommendation!
